Need offline MAP Viewer

i would like a standalone software that would help me show the globe and parts of the world to the kids i teach at school. i've tried Google earth, Nasa world wind, but they both need high speed internet. something we dont have. i switched to Gmap catcher, Imap builder. they dont work offline either. i need a software that would carry its own maps so i can just install it on the pc & browse various countries. im using windows xp ...... pls help
