Download manager for automatic download of multiple files

I'm presently downloading a whole pile of archived jpg and pdf files, each of which is accessed via a different web page, but the direct links to which differ by only the sequential number at the end of the file name. Is there a program into which you can paste a URL and then get it to start a series of downloads by incrementing the file numbers?

At the moment, I have to add each one individually, and even just rewriting each url entry rather than having to navigate to each page takes a lot of time.

why do you have to write each url each time?

If the url changes by just one character at the end of the file name, then just change that character and press Enter. It's not automated admittedly, but a lot quicker than typing the whole url out each time.

That's what I do, but when you're downloading a couple of hundred files at a time, a few thousand in total, it takes a seriously long time.
