Driver Detective not that good.
All well and good, I'm happy that you at least find your experience with Driver Detective and its parent company to be satisfactory, I did not.
There is a large body of users who do not find their experience with Driver Detective to be satisfactory. There is a common thread; most of these dissatisfied users have attempted to use Driver Detective, they have had a very bad experience and have tried to utilize the 'your money back if not satisfied', "guarantee". The vast majority of those dissatisfied users have met with no reply, with endless stonewalling, or an outright refusal by the Driver Detective parent company to honor the published guarantee. I find it interesting that supporters are few, but critics many, in the published user reviews. Yes, I know that in general satisfied customers do not respond to surveys, but dissatisfied customers do. Never the less, of almost 400 published reviews by users, the average score was 2 stars out of a possible 5. (Where the average is taken to be the simple, unweighted, mean value.)
Driver Detective is advertised in such a way that it appears to be a simple to use tool enabling the average computer user to keep their PC updated, and that if it doesn't work for you, then we will refund your money. I submit that is a misleading advertisement and it is probably the major reason for the dissatisfaction expressed in user reviews. The product image is further burnished by the reference to "Microsoft business partner". For many readers of the advertisements, that statement confers further legitimacy.
A a purely personal opinion, based on the reported guarantee practices, I consider that the parent company of Driver Detective is pursuing a well considered 'bait and switch' policy; the company, (PC Drivers Headquarters Inc.) gets away with its deceitful behaviour because the cash amount at issue in any one instance of complaint is too small to make legal action cost effective for the complainant. A small cash amount per guarantee complaint rejection, multiplied by a large number of rejections, becomes a large total amount of cash in the pocket of the seller!
Perhaps this dishonest behaviour could be cured, if all of the people who have tried Driver Detective, and have had a bad experience with the product and the guarantee process were to file formal complaints with the Texas State Attorney's, Office of Consumer Protection, and with the Better Business Bureau covering the corporate HQ of PC Drivers Headquarters Inc.
