zoom adsl x4 modem help !

I got a zoom adsl x4 modem which is also a gateway, router and firewall.

I wanted this model because it got good reviews for online gaming..

I installed the modem with in seconds connecting me to the web via adsl and the usb port.
The next step was to connect the lan line to my ps2 i followed the instructions and at 1st is was good the ps2 went on to the connection page but still dident connect and also a message on my pc said that the internet connection had become LIMITED or Not connected. And now it will not connect to the web on my pc and im using an old sagme cheapo modem...

i had to change the DHCP setting to this...


Start IP Address 10.0.0.4
End IP Address 10.0.0.16
Netmask 255.255.255.0
Gateway Address 10.0.0.2
DNS Address 10.0.0.2

when i did this is when it all went wrong.

After i had to what zoom said and this was this...

Once the modem has rebooted close all open windows down to the Desktop. Switch Off the ADSL Modem's power, and wait 30 seconds. (If you have multiple computers or devices (game consoles, etc.) connected to the modem, unplug all computers and devices from the modem. Plug in the game console only to allow it to receive the external/public (or WAN) IP address.)
NOW switch the power back ON.

I dont know if this means to plug the lan to the ps2 and swith on or plug the lan to the ps2 and leave it off :S would seem pointless to leave it off but thats what it says to me :S

Any help i would be very great full.

Also using R7j304 lan cable...

the modem is design for such things as ps2 to be linked via the ethernet cable and still be able to use the pc at the same time !
If i was to plug it to the pc via ethernet then i will need to be plugging and un pluggin wires all the time sad

It installs fine and then loose's the network address and says it cannot connect sad

That is, USB and the Ethernet work at the same time. Who said that worked?

Adsl modem

This is what zoom adsl say will work....

They say to use the rj45 lan cable on the p2s and also have the adsl working on the pc at the same time...

I have got into a network today using that system but then i got dns error 613 so need to adjudt things..

Thanks i dident know needed a different udb driver and im downloading it now and will see how thats goes...

Having seen too much trouble and wasted time with the USB connection, I never bother with that. I go get a hub if that adsl modem has routing capability.

But that's your choice. Your time...

Hub ?

What is this hub everybody is talking about...I might change to the hub if its any good and will make things easyer and more reliable

The modem in question got 9.6 out of 10 and got an award from simpleness of connecting consoles online...

The driver dident work...It told me to uninstall the usb driver that was already there and then uninstall on the programs menu list the anything to do with zoom which ment it got rid of the software from the disc.
Then to turn off the pc restart open the new driver and install but it needs internet connection to find software so how can installing of the drivers for a modem need web connection lol

dosent make any sence...I cant get on the internet because im installing a modem !!

Any advice on a hub...

If you guys know of any hubs that you could reckonmend ?

Also the zoom adsl does router properties...

Just going to keep the modem on all the time to save me keep resetting the setting for it...

In your case, a hub is fine.

The device you have is a router.

So it's...

modem/router -> hub -> PC and other devices.

Cost is minimal so shop around.

If the zoom is a hub alread then im sure its just settings will have to look at...

Seems quite a few people have problems with getting online with there playstations 2's..
