What some discover is that software you may install later expected those entries to exist because the stock install of Windows placed those entries there.

Having run into this "overcleaning" issue, I share this issue and that the poor owner had to reinstall the OS.

You can try WINDOWS REGISTRY REPAIR SE. It is a free software, having a limitation of 30 corrections in the free version. Believe me, it's very good and gives you the option to choose the course of action after the registry error is detected. However, it's best to take recourse to the default option suggested by the software itself. Try it. Best of luck!

I hope this was a good choice. I thought about Windows Registry first aid but I noticed I would have to pay in order to get it to work at full potential. I am thinking 16.99 is a reasonable price to pay for a product that messes with the registry. Like Bob said it might get rid of something that was supposed to stay there and then totally make your OS unstable causing you to have to reinstall. This ccleaner, has anybody got any horror stories about it or is it pretty stable?
