Windows Movie Maker Compatibility

I apologize ahead of time if this subject is in the wrong forum. I'm a newb.

Here's my problem: I hate Windows Movie Maker for Windows 7. It's so dumbed down that it's pretty much useless to me, and I want the Movie Maker program that comes with Vista.

I know I can download the Vista version, but will it be compatible on my Windows 7? And if not, do I have any other options?

I looked at that and found no one that found a way to install it.

Why not move on to better editors?

I'm too cheap to buy something better. And I got really used to the Vista version. It had everything I needed. Oh well.

Better Editors

I opened this thread because I am having a problem myself with Movie Maker. I am just getting into turning vacation videos etc. into DVDs. Just wondering, R. Proffitt, if you can share with us which are some of the better editors.

Final Cut Pro HD and a friend uses Sony Vegas HD.

Sony has a less expensive product called "Movie Studio HD Platinum" that us common users can consider.

That's called Windows Live Movie Maker 2011. Not Windows Movie Maker for Windows 7.

Why don't you try Microsoft's Windows Live Movie Maker it easily turns photos and video clips into slideshows and movies on Vista and Windows 7. You can also save your movie back to the DV tape in your camera.
