Optimize my current or get new PC for Graphic Designer ????

I am a graphic designer struggling with a question of upgrading or reworking my PC to improve performance. I welcome any recommendations.

I currently have a HP Pavillion, Intel 4, 3 ghz, 140 gig HD (used for system & program files - 65% full), 2 gig RAM. It also has a 2nd internal 240 gig HD (used for document/work files - 50% full).

With XP on the system, I run the Adobe Creative Suite of products, Microsoft Office Pro. I struggle with processing speed and find my system bogged down. With DSL, I wait appx 10 seconds Just to load web pages.

Any thoughts>

That could be proper for many web pages. I would not look to a new machine to speed that up much more than 2 seconds tops.

I like the PC you have as to RAM and keeping the hard disks from being 98% full. There is a VERY SIMPLE THING I'd like you to try. It's this -> Flip the IDE mode to PIO, say OK and then back to DMA. How to do this is noted at http://winhlp.com/node/10

Beyond that the other usual thing I do is scan it with MBAM.

To do much else you replace the machine.
