Need to transfer slides to DVD

My dad has been taking family slides since the late 1960's. I would like to begin transfering the slides onto my computer so I may burn them onto DVDs.

Can anyone suggest the best, but most affordable equipment I need to do this? I have the PC, but I do need a new DVD burner and slide transfer unit.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!!

Some like Epson's slide scanners since their cleanup software is amazing.

As to the DVD recorder, how about that HP Lightscribe? Last week I snagged an internal 18X model # dvd940i for 49 bucks.

Great cleanup on your picture!

I have an Epson scanner and it can scan slides, but I have hundreds and hundreds to do. Does Epson make a unit that can load a lot at a time?

Yes there are such things. But I've found most balk at the costs and end up with a simple slide scanner and work a hundred slides a weekend. That's 5000 slides a year so they exchange time for money.

I've got thousands of slides...want to burn to DVD

Hi Bob is it...or anyone??? I inherited my dad's family slides from the 60s. I wasn't clear as to what you discovered or might recommmend. Going to a photo house is too expensive for the amount of slides my dad has (I have). So what might be the process to transfer/scan these. I do have a scanner here at home...a Mac or PC and plenty of HD space. Any advice or steering me to a good website that sells this stuff would be appreciated...
