Two Problems

by The ancient one - 9/3/13 3:11 PM

The first problem involves I.E.8 which I try not to use. It has become corrupted that is if I open the browser it causes the computer to freeze or lock up. Hopefully, I will never have to use IE8 but if for some reason I do need to then I have a problem. This is not something that you can delete and reinstall.

The other involves Conduit Search Toolbar
A google search revealed the following: "The Conduit virus, also referred to as the Conduit search virus, Conduit engaging people virus, Conduit malware apps, or the search.conduit.com redirect virus, is a website that participates in unethical practices, and is utilized by ethical and unethical third-parties, including cyber criminals and scam artists in order to generate revenue via Conduit Products such as the Conduit Community Toolbar. Conduit is essentially documented as a browser hijacker, that installs onto a computer system and attaches to an internet browser, in order to change internet browser settings such as the home page and default search engine. This causes infected internet browsers to start up on search.conduit.com and redirect to search.conduit.com as well as other webpages on the Conduit domain name and third-party domain names and search engines."

I uninstalled it using Revo Uninstaller but it still remained in various places in the computer and on IE8 and Google Chrome. Following instructions from another search, I removed it from the registry. Also was able to remove it from Google Chrome by deleting it from Google extensions. It is still in a Folder (C:\Program Files) and if I delete it from there, then every time I boot up the computer I get the following message: "RUNDLL
Error loading C:\Program Files\Conduit\CT3311857\plugins\TBVerifier.dll
The specified module could not be found
OK button"
Rather than clicking the OK button every time I boot up, I have left it in the folder, but I would really like to get rid of it. Any suggestions?
