Is the $30 charge at Amazon for one year or two? Is it new or used?

I'll admit to not shopping around, didn't realize I had to. This whole thing is somewhat annoying, because Symantec doesn't mention their own discount schemes when you simply hit "renew" from within the program. Here's what I've paid over the years for renewals:

2002 - $20 (initial purchase)
2003 - 25
2004 - 47
2005 - 40
2006 - 39
2007 - 39
2008 - 60
2009 - 70
2010 - 74
2011 - 75
2012 - 85

Somewhere along the line (probably in 2004 or possibly 2008, based on significant increases in those years) I went from Norton Internet Security to Norton 360, so that accounts for some of the apparent long term inflation. But the point is, I've clearly been screwing this up; I need to pay closer attention and obviously NOT count on Symantec to give me an automatic "deal".

WRT the Amazon offer, it's a download, so I'd call that "new". And yes, they advertise 24/7 phone/chat support from Symantec for 1 year. Actually, in 10+ years of use, I've never had to contact them. That makes the 24/7 support sorta moot from my perspective.

With 10+ years of use, I know better than to ask ... "why not switch to free"?

It's been working for you and no doubt after all this time you're comfortable with it.

I won't try to convince you otherwise.
