Green Dot Moneypak Virus

I've managed to pick up a particularly stubborn version of the Green Dot Moneypak virus.

I'm running XP Corporate and have exhausted every "fix" I've found online to no avail.

No version of safe mode will override the re-direct and I even tried a suggestion someone had made to burn a copy of Windows Defender to disc and then changing my boot sequence to boot from CD ROM instead of the hard drive. Green Dot didn't like it very much, but still I could not override the re-direct.

I'm sure this topic has been beaten to death already, but I'm making one last plea for assistance or ideas before I do the dreaded wipe/re-install.

From a clean computer, download Malwarebytes and send it to a flash drive or CD. Reboot the sick computer to SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING, input the FD or CD open and run a MWB scan, at the end of the scan infections will appear highlighted in red, click SHOW RESULTS, the attempt removal of items...this is certainly worth a try. Good luck!!

I will give this a try since I have both a clean computer and a flash drive (and CD burner), but as I stated in my original post, NO version of Safe Mode work - I've tried Safe Mode With Networking a few times already. Thanks for taking the time to answer, but I feel like this is a dead end already.

Ubuntu is a possibility

You can get on a clean computer, then go to http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop then download the desktop ISO file, burn it to a DVD, then you can boot from the DVD, get on the 'net, and use any of the online scanners. If you're unfamiliar with Ubuntu, it's Linux based, but it will boot to a desktop that works very similar to Windows and is a great tool for folks in situations like yours. If you need a program to burn the ISO file to the DVD, you can download the free Imgburn from http://www.imgburn.com .
