Question about Ad-Aware Free Antivirus +

I have been searching for a free spyware protection software that has real-time protection, that I would like to run along side with avast Free Antivirus. Basically since I have real-time protection for viruses, I want software that runs real-time spyware protection that can work along side with my main virus protection without them interfering with each other. I was thinking of downloading Ad-Aware, but it seems its newer versions have fully integrated virus protection.

My question is since I use avast, does that mean I can't use real-time protection on Ad-Aware, since it also has virus protection? And if that's the case, are there other *free* spyware protection softwares that offer real-time? (I use Malwarebytes for manual scans).

While you can try such the ugly truth is that there is no known real-time protection that works to cover all known threats today. Most of the protection is "us."

Here I have an antivirus installed then beefed up protection by not using IE then adding WOT (web of trust) and AdBlockPlus to another browser.

Scans with the usual titles come up empty so I have not considered installing anything else.

Avast is also a light duty a/s tool.
W7 comes with an a/s tool called windows defender.
I suppose you could turn on the real time protection of win def.

I'm told that they play nice together.
