Virus is preventing me from installing antiviral software

My computer is infected with some kind of virus which is preventing me from installing anti-viral software. If I try to visit any site - ANY site - where there is a download link to antiviral software, I get a "page not found" message. And if I follow a direct link to an antiviral software link, my computer crashes and reboots.
I've found dozens of websites offering advice on how to solve this issue, but every suggestion begins with "download-such-and such software..." - which is precisely what I can't do! If I could, I wouldn't have the problem.
Any help or advice would be very much appreciated.

That's when you need to use the back door method.
