What is the best software for file/folder security win7

I wish to secure/lock a few folders on my laptop which have personal information. I see there is one software called File Lock and another Krypton? I wish to be able to unlock these folders, use them and lock them again after use. I just had my laptop stolen and although it was password protected (I know that isn't everything) I worry about information in some files. Now that I have a new laptop I wish to secure future folders so that if anything every happens again, I do not have this concern. I have been worried sick. thank you

Have a look at TrueCrypt. A wee bit of a learning curve, but worth it.

...with the same addendum, that it takes a bit to learn (over some paid versions that do the same thing), but for that little bit of hassle, you get no cost, tried-and-true product.

I looked at TrueCrypt and it seems kind of messy to use???? I'll have to read it all again and try to understand how it works better.

I don't mind purchasing a software if it works and is easy for me to use.

You can't ensure a 100% safe even if you have encrypted them. Hackers can get whatever information they want if they need it.

There's no better way out but to take care of your laptop and never let it be stolen.

Yes I know that! Sometimes things happen beyond our control - and so I would like to try to do the best I can to secure a folder on my laptop. How I wish I could roll back time.
