My PC: Dell Dimension 3000 running MS XP, SP3. Security: Online Armor free, MSSE, Process Guard free. . One of the editors suggested that I protect all "open" applications such as browsers, Media, readers, etc. I researched in Wilders Security and selected a classic HIPS: Process Guard free. I was instructed at Wilders to download it, put it in "learning mode" and start and then stop all processes. For example, FX browser, Foxit reader, etc. I then put every process under protection, and denied to every process ability to terminate, write to or read another process. Learning mode was then terminated and I rebooted. I see NO issues and i have used this for a month.
Question, will this classic HIPS (ProcessGuard) added to MSSE and OA make me moderately secure? Is Process Guard considered passably effective as HIPS? Advise.
Thank you very much.
