Hi Thanks. I have not disconnected the net. After recovery the files are saved in a drive & the recovery process(ie like .csk, .dsk files) also saved for future ref. I am asking if the provider can access my recovery & files.

The same could be said of any software we install, not just data recovery software.

To be absolutely certain that any software is unable to call home, we disconnect from the internet before we use it.

But it is highly unlikely that recovery software would call home with details of the files it has managed to recover.

In any case, I suspect the question is moot because I see from elsewhere in this discussion that;

1] You did not disconnect from the internet before using such software, and

2] You have used the software and it has recovered files.

So, frankly, it is too late to be asking the question and if this were me I would just use the software, get as many files recovered as I could, then move on.

If you are using a good data recovery software then the software provider will not interface with the process or data or device. A good software does the job only. If your software is infected by virus or malware then there are chances that your data may get copied to somewhere else.

In fact many companies, even they are providing data recovery software at free of cost then also they give a good software. You can always use CNET to check reviews and rating of it.
