Re: IMPORTANT! Fix utility for corrupted avast! v6/v7 installations

I get the following message when trying to run this fix:
Your avast! Installation doesn't seem to have the problem this fix is
supposed to solve (code:11)
My avast suite says it is not protecting my system.
I cannot repair it via programs and features in control panel
(of Win 7 home edition).
I cannot uninstall the corrupt avast.
What do I do?

in the avast forum at the link I posted above about this. The avast people themselves know more about this than I do. They already released another update to correct the problem a few days ago.

My problem has now been solved. I have wiped out

It appears AVAST antivirus version 7 is full of
problems. I succeeded in deleting the corrupt suite
and thereafter re-installed avast 7.0.1407.0 free antivirus
that I converted to internet security with my subsisting
license. A new problem has arisen. There is no firewall
in the latest avast program. Can this problem be solved?
Do I abandon and go for another antivirus say AVG?
My avast software has become a terrible pain in the neck!

I'm unclear as to which version (and how) of avast! you eventually wanted to install. It would appear to me it was their Internet Security. It does come with a firewall. Please see this "Feature Comparison" chart. Or this overview of their 3 versions.

Are you having a problem trying to install it? Is there a reason you first downloaded the free version, instead of the Internet Security? If you are up-to-date and current with your payment, go to the same page and click on the "Existing Customers" tab. It should address your needs, if in fact it is their Internet Security you want.

IF it's the FREE version you have installed (or want), you always have the option of using it with Windows Firewall.

You wrote in your original post, you were unable to contact customer service. Did you try calling them at their toll free number - 1 877-314-5079 ? Or contacting them via email ?

Thanks again. my problem is completely
solved after i followed your instructions.
I visited the avast site and was able to download the
internet security 7.01426 as an existing customer.
my avast is now functioning perfectly including
the firewall.
However, my compaq notebook pc have
slowed down appreciably. That was not the
case when I was running the version 6.
It seems this latest avast has some hidden flaws.
Many people seem to be complaining about it.

Yes, I see there have been many (and various) complaints, about the newest version. Hopefully, some changes and/or improvements will be made in the near future.
