Uninstalling the NetAssistant..
Hi Rudy..
Thank you for your kind words, but I believe it was Grif who responded to your post, regarding the removal of the XP Security rogue. Additionally, I generally don't recommend using System Restore as the first course of action. I'm glad to hear you got rid of it, no matter where the advice came from!
I'm not sure I understand the full extent of your problem. But from what I gather, you're looking to remove the NetAssistant. Did you first try the instructions Grif previously recommended? His post included using the tools, after restarting the computer in "Safe Mode with Networking". Also keep in mind, when using the tools with Windows 7 you will need to right-click and "Run as Administrator".
If you're still unable to remove it, I would suggest trying the "Revo Uninstaller" utility. Note there's a free version.
Also see, "How to Remove Freeze Spyware". You will come to find its processes have varied names. (See #2)
You haven't shared with us, which browser you're using. But check to see if you find anything Freeze or NetAssitant related in your add-ons/extensions.
Rudy, as mentioned previously, I don't have a complete understanding of your problem. If Grif's instructions don't help, and if you can't uninstall it from Programs and Features, do give the Revo Uninstaller a try.
Best of luck. And..... a belated "Welcome to CNET".
Carol
