Getting rid of Panda Security

Hope someone can help. I purchased a Norton Security system with my HP laptop,os. Windows 7, and it gives me the option of installing it on a second PC. My other PC, os. Windows XP, had an older subscription version of Panda security (unused for several years). Norton won't allow an install with the Panda still in place, although I have tried several times to delete it from the remove/install utility. I'm about to renew my Norton subscription and would like to install it on the older PC but can't seem to get rid of that @#$% Panda. Any ideas? Thanks.

Try Revo Uninstaller

Back to no Norton...

Hello, Bob, et al ~
Sadly, even though I was successful in ridding my PC of the latent Panda software by clicking on one of the appropriate links in Carol's reply, (seemed the simplest thing to try first), I neglected to first uninstall the Microsoft Security Essentials virus protection that had been working previously. I don't have to tell any one of you how badly the computer was behaving. My husband was NOT happy (his PC). Ended up, after a lot of time spent screwing around, uninstalling the Norton. Now things seem to be working well and he's happy again. Oh, well. Perhaps I'll try the Norton on his PC again at some point, since I just renewed my subscription through September '12 on my laptop (3 downloads came with the original software). Is Norton notorious for this kind of thing?

Sometimes products won't uninstall with add/remove because their active.
Sometimes a boot to safe mode and then use add/remove does the trick.

If the above 2 suggestions don't help, try whichever removal tool, is appropriate for your XP's Panda version and product year.
