ZoneAlarm vs. ZoneAlarm Pro

Any opinions on using ZA or ZA Pro? I realize there are more features in the Pro version - does it offer better protection? Are the firewalls the same? I'm trying to decide if I want to upgrade to the Pro version. Any replies are appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not up to date on this, but it seems like I once found that I needed Pro to fully protect a shared internet connection. Also You might get some help on identifying who would-be intruders are.

My experience was that when I upgraded my computer to XP but on the other one I was still running 98, I was no longer able to share the internet connection with the free version. I have a cable modem and was using a hub for the network. I had to buy the pro version for the network to allow me to share my internet connection.

I have been a long time user of ZoneAlarm, and I have updated to ZoneAlarm Pro. I am very happy that I did. There is more to it that just plain ZoneAlarm. There is a finer tuning to each proceedure ZoneAlarm Pro does. Its firewall is excellent.

I wouldn't think of using another security program.

apart from the obvious! if you pay you allow more improvements to be made and the product to continue in production. there's not a lot of difference, a few more bells and whistles easily identified by the checkmarks on zonealarm's advertising! I used the free version for years until I visited the americas and had the opportunity to buy the zonealarm on disk - I'm not fond of downloads happy since I loaded the pro version I've kept it up to date, and recommend the pro version to everyone. there's nothing wrong with the free version, it's just that once you've bought it you won't go back t the free one!

Zone Alarm Pro

I have switched all of my computers to ZA Pro. It started as a protest to Norton not supporting a version more than two years old on a computer that needed an upgraded hard drive. They insisted that I purchase the most recent version of Internet Security. Their programs also are extremely hard to delete! I wrote them a (snail mail) letter that they ingnored!

I tried ZA Pro and loved it. The pro version has anti virus and automatic updates. I will NOT use a Norton product again, because, as Norton says "we're Norton and you're not!" Well, Norton, you can "Be Norton" without me!!! ZA Pro is a very good system that works well!
