My laptop has many viruses dont want to pay to wipe clean

I have dell computer and its running windows xp, i must have downloaded a virus that i paid fifty dollars for.I want to wipe my own computer out without having to pay someone else a hundred dollars or more if i can do it myself. i dont have the operating system but i was told i get it on amazon. plz those that can do these things plz help me. thank you

The usual way to do that on a Dell is to press ctrl-F11 at boot, so you boot into the recovery partition. Then tell it to restore your machine back to factory conditions. Did you already check your manual to see if this should work with you? And if it should work, does it work?

Putting the OS on a hidden partition is a common way to save the costs of providing an OS CD and a driver CD. That's why they do it that way.
If it doesn't work, contact Dell Customer support to see if you can order disks. That's much cheaper and much more easy than buying something at amazon and try to get that working.

I'm going to try and see if that works but my laptop is like a million years old. so i hope it does. i dont have a any paper work got the laptop from a family memeber yrs ago
