If you originally had PC Tool's Spyware Doctor 2010 (with their A/V included) it's best to either keep Norton 360, or Spyware Doctor. Not both. Have a look at PC Tool's Spyware Doctor Forum, where the same question has been asked, in regard to Norton 360 and other A/V software. You'll see where it's not recommended.

As much as I don't think it's a good idea, I did try to find user's, who were able to successfully run the two concurrently. I searched through threads at the PC Tools and Norton Community Forum's.

I found the majority of user's, who tried disabling the A/V component of Spyware Doctor, were still experiencing problems.

Lastly. When you removed McAfee from your system, did you use the McAfee Consumer Products Removal tool (MCPR.exe) ? If not, I would suggest doing so. McAfee products tend to leave a lot of leftover (unwanted) files.

Does anyone know if bit defender or Eset are good firewalls?

Thank you so much carol for all your help on this. I am going to try Kaspersky and take it from there. No matter which site i went to many recommend that one and good customer reviews. Pc tools firewal has issues with windows 7. I know Norton isn't compatible with spyware dr but even alone it seems to bog down my system.
