ad-aware plus by lavasoft error message: "Failed to connect

Unable to connect to service for my ad-aware plus by lavasoft. Keep getting message: "Failed to connect to service" Help!! I able to download the product to the computer, but when I click on the program at my desktop shortcut icon, I get the error message. I have disabled my Norton , but it still does not help! I can download and activate other internet programs to my computer with no problem however, so my internet connection and windows connection is OK I run Windows XP

If the error occurs when trying to update:
Cannot Update: Connection Error, Three Workarounds
