I Believe So.....One of the Problems
with "all-in-one" type protectors is that they want to be the "only"
one and act as if they own you & your machine. With their fingers in many parts, it is common to get conflict "turf wars".
Generally in that case, the secret is to have ONLY "on demand" scanners that have no background protectors active ( most Free versions lack real time background) & temp. disable main one when scanning with others.
MBAM has no default background guards but SAS does have a few like locking your "home page" to prevent re-directs. This can be disabled in preferences tab.
Also, some may have a default start-up scan that runs in background at boot up. This also can be disabled & that WOULD REALLY slow you down, especially with conflicts! This is probably why it seemed to slow your machine (unless a very old OS w/ minimum RAM & HD space).
I'm using antique Win XP Pro SP1 with 80g HD & ('til this week)only
512Mgs of RAM and I use Anti-Vir (A/V Only) & have SAS & MBAM on board with no noticeable slow down. All 3 are light on resources demand.
I disable "AntiVir Guard" w/ right click on tray icon when I want to scan with the others(nightly) & re-enable when scan done.I don't use but am sure KAS also has a temp disable for resident protection.
I would get clean NEW copy of SAS (in case corrupted during the war
w/KAS) and put it back on. I normally disable "main A/V " during install to prevent any possible corruption of drivers in new install & re-enable afterwards, before 1ST manual updating.Excellent w/ useful repair tools included via "preferences> Repair Tab.
Just on first page of "Preferences" uncheck any boxes relating to "Start when Windows Starts". "Show Icon on sys tray",I checked, radio button, "Do not start scan when SAS starts", since it often is just to update defs/traces,leaving others below unchecked. Also, on Hijack Protection Tab I left home page protection boxes un-checked (I have anther doing that)but did leave checked the 2 boxes below for "application protection". You will still have Icon on desktop to click when you want to update or scan.
Hope this helps as I would NEVER be willing to put all my eggs in one protective basket, no matter how big the name or how expensive.
