Ad aware 2007....

I know I'm not the only one with this problem. I cannot uninstall AdAware 2007. I get an error message that says "Error 1720. Problem with windows installer package.A script required for this install to complete could not run." I've been to lavasoft website and every other place that I could find, and everyone else is having the same problem, with the same error message. Is there any possible way of resolving this problem? I've tried reinstalling , but it didn't make any difference. If anyone has the fix, I would really appreciate it. You can't get help from Lavasoft. Thanks.....Maggie

Start>Programs>Ad- Aware> Uninstall Ad- Aware.

I have a post in XP about this same product and eventually did a restore back to ONE DAY before I installed this product.

It not only un installed Ad- Aware 2007, but also gave me back Ad- Aware SE, which I feel is more stable.

known to human-kind, and nothing has worked so far. I guess I'll try system restore to before I installed it. You would think Lavasoft would at least let us know that they are aware of the problem and working on a fix. Thanks for the suggestion about sys. restore. I didn't think of it.....Maggie

Then went to restore and luckily there was a restore point to the day I installed it, and a set point to the day before.

Must admit, fingers crossed.

Have you seen this discussion at Lavasoft. It states you have to download version 7.0.1.4 that the version 7.0.1.3 will not uninstall properly, They also state you have to stop anti-virus and anti-spyware while uninstalling.

Curious why you are uninstalling 2007. I have had it since day one with no problems

I just want to go back to the SE version. I have a problem with anything that won't let me uninstall it. I'll try your suggestion and see what happens. If it allows me to install it and uninstall it, than I'll probably keep it. Thanks for the info...Maggie

Windows Installer Clean Up Utility works!

Afterwards, I would go to c:\program files and delete everything there regarding lavasoft. Also, start/all programs - lavasoft- delete also.

this software only removes the entry from add/ remove.

But if the targeted software's uninstaller fails then this is GOOD tool to remove the entry since that's something we want to remove as we manually cleanup.

I got the Add-Remove Pro AFTER I finally did System Recovery. What a pain that is. But now I have it in case I ever need it. I finally found the AdAware SE. They have it in File Hippo. That was the only place I found that you could actually download it. Someone some where posted where to find it. I wish when they put these betas out, they wouldn't hide the other versions from us. Anyway, thanks for all the help and suggestions from everyone. I'm sure all of this will help someone else. Just don't follow my example! Try the Add-Remove Pro first. Then if all fails.....well.........Maggie

I didn't get it 'till after I did system recovery. But I have it now in case I need it in the future. I'm dying to find something to uninstall, so I can try it out.....Maggie
