competing AVG apps

I was recently infected by several viruses which my security suite (Zone) did not catch.

I've read here that many users advise more than one AV SW application; but i'm also aware that competing applications can also cause problems (as they compete not only for resources, but also, they may apply different attack strategies when they encounter a malware).

My new Vista machine is using McAfee security suite, but I still have paid subscription time on my Zone Lab subscription (my Zone is currently not active on this machine, now that McAfee is). If the answer is to have 2 AV running to make sure I catch everything, how can I safely augment my security suite? And, can someone recommend a good AV standalone application?

Hi Jim,

Installing 2 antivirus program with real-time protection enabled is not recommended. It might caused problem, conflict. It can affect the performance of your system.

You need to decide which one to use:
Zone Alarm Internet Security Suite or McAfee Internert Security Suite.

If you like standalone antivirus, you need to decide too whether you want a freeware or commercial version.
