Re:ZoneAlarm strange behaviour
Heinz,
Whenever posting questions on these forums, please give us as much information as possible about your computer. Depending on your issue, we might need the operating system, processor speed, amount of RAM installed, brand name of the computer, (if there is one), and any EXACT error messages you are receiving, and in your case, the EXACT version of ZoneAlarm you are using. The more information you give us, the better informed our answer will be.
Assuming you are using a recent version of ZA, have you tried changing the program setting in the "Program Control" section? Try this: Double click on the ZA icon in the lower right system tray. When the ZA control panel opens, looking on the left side, click on the "Program Control" name. When that loads, click on the "Programs" tab, then find the "Internet Explorer" listing, click once on the "Internet" column setting under "Access"(probably a red X or a ? question mark), choose "Allow" from the little menu that pops up. (I also have "Allow" in the "Trusted" column of Internet Explorer also, but not as a "server".) Next, find the ISP program name in the programs listing and do the same thing. If you're using Windows XP, you'll need to also allow the "Generic Host Process" to have access. If you use any other browsers than Internet Explorer, they also will need access.
Hope this helps.
Grif
