KB 926239

System restore showed KB 926239 as an auto update on 10-31-06. I did a restore to 10-30-06 to solve another problem. When I went into Microsoft.com to find KB926239 so I could install it, Microsoft didn't recognize it. What's up?

Unfortunately, I can't find that particular Knowledgebase number anywhere. Google, Microsoft, or on my computer.. Maybe we're both missing something.

Number is correct, a Hotfix for WMP10

It may be a typo error on microsoft.com site for I have WMP 11 installed today. It took four passes at windows update to get it and the yellow icon was stuck at zero k. Darrell Lewis

Guess What - Your Right

Strange, I just downloaded Windows Media Player 11 this morning. And as I do from time to time, I checked my system restore check points, and there was one for "Installed Windows XP KB926239", one for "installed MSCompPackV1", one for "installed windows xp wudf01000" and one for, of course, windows media player 11. All were installed within four minutes of each other. I also have the following new programs in my add & remove list: Microsoft User Mode Driver Framework Feature Pack 1.0 & Windows Media Format 11 Runtime & Microsoft Compression Client Pack 1.0 for Windows XP AND Windows Media Player 11.

And I also did a Google and no listing for this KB926239. And I appear to be getting some popups, which I never "ever" get. Hmmmm. Maybe, after I run some additional scans, I'll uninstall WMP 11 and all this related stuff.

I wound of with a virus (first time) that AVG found and removed. After uninstalling WMP 11 ,I reinstalled WMP10. There no longer is any trace of Windows XPMscompPackV1 nor Windows Wud 01000.
Somthing just isn't right with instlalling WMP 11 if both of us had the same problems.

Same Problem

My problems after downloading Windows Media Player 11 are almost identical to yours, same restore points, same hofix.
I had the additional problem of not being able to play a good portion of my "play list" Windows told me the files were protected and to contact the administrator.
I removed Media Player 11 and went back to 10, I can again play all my music. Ann

any problems that may have occurred. I didn't get Microsoft User Mode Driver Framework Feature Pack 1.0 or Microsoft Compression Client Pack 1.0
I did locate the place were playlists are at on WINXP
Home Edition. Shared Documents/Shared Music/ has Playlists, sample Playlists and an icon with music under it. Says: Windows Audio/Video Playlists. DarCLew2
