Virus (Worm.SomeFool.Q) In Mail From You Is this a true virus/worm?
by SD - 4/21/04 10:35 PM
I received a message from "amavisd-new" <postmaster@oberon.virtualsw.es> advising: "VIRUS ALERT Our content checker found virus: Worm.SomeFool.Q in email presumably from you (giving my e-mail address) to the following recipient: "email alcalagres+general@[127.0.0.1]"
I did not initiate any e-mail to the above address. I ran a virus scan with Norton and it indicated there was not a virus on my computer. I also ran a scan with HouseCall and it indicated there was not a virus on my computer. I did a search for this and could not find anything on Norton -- Google turned up a site (www.wormbase.org/mailarch/wormbase/1383.html) however it gave no information other than the same message I had received "VIRUS ALERT Our content checker found...."
I have subsequently received two notices from e-mails that I did not send any mail to also advising that my mail could not be delivered and requesting I check my system for viruses. I've also received mail from two additional e-mail addresses that I did not send mail to.
Please advise if I should be concerned about this. Thanks!
