Problems installing Lavasoft's Ad-Aware Program

Sony Vaio; Windows XP, SP2, Pentium 4 CPU 1.60 GHz, 512 ram

I am at my brother's home cleaning up his PC. We have downloaded and run various antivirus/spyware utilities - e.g., spybot, spyware blaster, ewido, avg. All utilities have cleaned and destroyed bad stuff as they should except for Lavasoft's Ad-aware (free version). I downloaded the program from the internet and installed. It will run as far as 67056. It does show 4 registry keys that it found. However, it hangs up at that point and will not continue to run. If I close the program and re-run, it will run as far as 67080 and then hangs up.

Any suggestions on how to get this utility to work?
