Me Too, only I got a Trojan Horse too!

Sorry, but this is a long one. My problem started when I went to stopsign.com for a virus scan, just to "check up" on my AVG free edition. AVG always says "no virus", and I was beginning to get suspicious. Anyway, come to find out stopsign GAVE me the Trojan horse (as I read somewhere online that stopsign is FULL of viruses). (Didn't they used to be reputable??) Then everything went whacky. It deleted my entire AVG program, rearranged all my desktop icons, flashes messages on the screen that I have NO time to read before it's gone, etc. etc. I've not had a problem with pop-ups like you.
I reinstalled AVG and ran it (no virus), and ran my Ad Adware, Spybot, and Microsoft Antispyware. Neither AVG nor Microsoft Antispyware picked up the Trojan, but the other 2 did. I'm beginning to wonder about AVG. Ad Aware and Spybot both found 32 objectionable objects in addition to a Trojan called "Trojan killapp.30208". It is in a file called "D:\my backup\hp\link terminator". That is the only one both Ad Aware and Spybot will not remove. Oh, I forgot, those 2 also pick up something called "eAccelerator", which I also can not get rid of.
I am running XP w/SP2, and am using both Zone Alarm AND the windows firewall. When I try to update my Ad Aware definitions, I get the error message that it cannot let me update, so I'm still using definitions from 8/31. I was watching Spybot while it was running, and I noticed that it was going thru all kinds of programs that were deleted long ago, and it won't let me delete "eAccelerator" either. Is that part of the Trojan horse? When I try to just RUN Ad Aware, I get all the ZA urgent "danger!" messages, like you were getting, only it told me it had 94 danger messages! But once I dealt with about 4 of them, I never got the other 90. One of the Danger alerts from ZA said "Ad Aware SE core application is trying to communicate with "\system root\system32\smss.exe by opening its' process".
What in the heck does this all mean? And HOW do I get rid of this Trojan??
Someone please point me in the direction of a website that will help me get rid of the Trojan! I can't find it listed on any list of viruses that I've seen. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!
