Ad-Aware & Spybot SD in Safe Mode???

I was told that I should run Ad-Aware and Spybot SD in safe mode. Is this true? If so, Do these tools work better in safe mode? I have Windows XP Home SP2.

There is no need to do that unless they are finding something that they can't delete because whatever malware was found was in use. If that is not the case, scanning in safe mode is not necessary.

That's good news. Now is this also true for Antivirus programs like avast and eTrust EZAntivirus? Bye the way, I have had the situation where Spybot or Ad-Aware couldn't remove an item because it was still in use. Now I know to run it in Safe Mode. Cool!!!

program too. You should only have to run it in safe mode if whatever you are trying to get rid of is in use. Sometimes, you can bring up the task manager and kill a process to delete something but that is only if you know exactly which process is causing the problem. You are welcome.

when spybot and/or Ad-Aware find something running in memory or a Trojan of some type that they cannot remove properly because they are running, they will let you know and ask that you restart, and upon restart before BIOS and or anything gets a chance to run, they will scan again, this time removing properly anything that was found in the previous scan in regular mode. the same really goes for safe mode, as it is not necessary to do this with them.... happy
