However, if most of all others feel like the white males are trying to control them, and that only white males can benefit from the Republican party getting elected, we're not going to get anyone in office.
Less species? nope, just a smaller fraction of voters in the US than ever before.
The blame game is played, and sometimes too many apologies are expected when not warranted.
The point being, you can't run for office anymore and have a good chance to win if you're or your party is perceived as wanting to keep white males in total control and keep others down.
That's the way too many speakers in the Republican party come across too often. Does it represent a majority of registered Republicans, probably (and I hope) not, but if the Republican party doesn't get rid of representatives (no matter how few) making enemies of everyone not white male, the Republican party is going to fade in political significance. I fear that as such happens, some within the party will urge doubling down on attacking minorities in one way or the other until conservative is such a dirty word in politics that it will drive reasonable conservatives into hiding.
Over 40 years ago I heard accusations that Republicans was a rich mans party, they still have problems with that label, and too often some unwise, if not idiotic, positioins and speeches have convinced groups that the members of the Republican party will do anything to keep control of government and business in the hands of a self perpetuating clique.
I still hear people complain about blacks not knowing their place, and those people call themselves conservatives. I still hear the "n" word, though that has almost died out. I hear some of those same people make deragatory remarks about those Mexicans. Things like...... yeah they work hard when they first come here but then they learn to work the system and just sit and drink on a porch living a dozen to a house.
I still hear this ****, with the speakers checking over their shoulders to make sure there is no non-whites around. I've gotten up and left groups before, I've said something against it, though no as much as I should. It's too tempting to just leave and avoid those than get in an arguement.
