You can also protect yourself by using a phone system in your house that will do call blocking, but I can tell you a 30 number limit on that can run out within a month or less. My system is using a Google number which is given out, it then first checks and then forwards unblocked number calls to my home phone number. I set it to show callers only the Google number. There seems to be no limit on how many call blocked numbers you can set up on the Google number. In the interim between updating the Google phone service (Voice) blocking the DECT6 type phone system with 30 number blocking can be used, and also serves to keep a record of what will later be added to the Google system before clearing for the next batch of enterprising telemarketers.

My home phone system service cost me I think $30 a year. It's a $60-70 Magic Jack Plus hooked directly to my internet router. I have the other end plugged to a wall jack which allows it to ring all older style phones in addition to the added 4 handset DECT6 phone system. I did have to cut the outside line into the house to stop it from grounding out, which seemed to happen even though the older landline phone system was discontinued. That MJP powers the wiring in the house as needed. I currently have the 4 DECT6 wireless phones with it's base hooked to a wall plug along with 3 older wired phones. That makes enough phones available in easy reach for 2 story home.

So, 7 phones on a VOIP high speed FIOS system paying for no phone service, just the internet and I also use that for TV service, the "double play".

I figure it saves me about $400 over the "Triple Play" I'd been using before.

There is so much satisfaction when you hear that one ring of a blocked telemarketer which wasn't listed on Google call blocking yet, but on the DECT6 system, and then it stops and the unit shows "Call Blocked". Oh, the DECT6 phone system when hooked into the home wiring will do the blocking also for all the older wired phones.

Finally, if I don't recognize the number or the caller isn't listed as approved on the DECT6 system, it also has it's call answering service and I can let it go to that instead.

Taking control back from the telemarketers in that manner has really added to my peace of life.

Other than those 2 calls...I haven't had a telemarketer call me in months.

This is why I always make it a point to report unsolicited phone calls to Callercenter.com and expose them for improper business practice. I do this in an attempt to warn everybody else from becoming a victim to their endless calls.
