but I can comment on that compensation package as compared to what mine was. Of course such views are all relative. When compared to Romney, these people make a pauper's wage. So how much should a person be paid who sits on their fanny in front of a computer all day? I'm thinking there are plenty...in fact I know some...who make about 40K and never complain.

The remark was facetious. If I was young enough and looking for work, I'd scratch and crawl my way to the west coast just to apply for a job with pay and benefits like that. I don't have all the details as, like you, I only know what writers write and editors release but it's obvious to me that some folks don't know what it means to have and serve customers first. Their customers are the people who buy all the Asian made goods that are aboard the ships waiting for the strike to end. About the only way their customers can strike is to stop buying those Asian goods and look for USA made alternatives. That might not be a bad idea. Maybe they'll drop their picket signs and quit their bellyaching.

Based on what information has been published, I can't find any reason to support these strikers but I'd never staple a sign to a stick and go marching anywhere. Would you care to offer your own opinion? Do you know enough to support them? Would you be out there with them if you could?

walking a picket line is the best alternative but I'm open to hearing examples if you've got any.

If a union decides to strike, just have their people go home wait things out. Whatever they do, I don't care to see them disrupting other workers or traffic in the area of their workplace where the picketing is going on. Their gripe doesn't need to affect everyone around them. Grow up and act mature. No more childish tantrums.

The thing outside of the strike and it's justification or lack of that struck me was that 45% of imports go through those two ports? That's amazing such a concentration. I didn't realize ports were so restricted in the US.

Or maybe I misunderstood, maybe it was 45% of shipping from Asia? that would make more sense I guess, since Asia imports would probably land on the west coast while almost all European and maybe African source imports would come into the east coast.
