That wonderful line is the pledge that all the members of Possum Lodge, the wilderness retreat run by Red, have to say at the end of their meetings.

It is a parody of any and all of those fishing shows hosted by an old bearded guy in a check shirt and khakis, chinos, LL Bean trousers, Eddie Bauer trousers. Red Green also wears suspenders with his belt, one side Red, bet you can't guess what colour the other side is?

However, judging by the current ever diminishing circle of Republicans, Yes, they do think of women as only fit for "Kinder, Kuch, und Kirche." That's "Children, the Kitchen, and Church" for those of you who don't Habla.

You want to know what James thinks, just think back to All in the Family, and everything Archie Bunker said, but without the laugh track, because he really believes all those stereotypical things that came out of Archie's mouth.

When both agree, and they can afford it, I think it's great for a parent to be home anytime the kids are, and available all the time.

And it may be chavinistic still, but I think for young, thinking pre-school age, the mother's presence helps more than the fathers. Althought the opposite sex parent seems to be a reality, as far as some depending more on one parent than the other.
