Given the modems were under the floor tile not on the desk or even on the top of the floor under the desk, I can't believe they were approved.

Interesting you made me realize, as far as I know there is no wifi installed at work. I'd bet there is but I've never heard of it. Never seen anyone using a laptop on the network without a wired connection. I'd bet there is in the head offices and the IT center, but I've never heard it mentioned.

And although cellular modems and private devices do not endanger the network, the use would have to be under the same guideline use as company equipment. Since even though the equipment is not the company equipment it may not be subject to inspection or censoring, the use of it on company time would still fall under the same guidelines. I expect you would agree about on company time anyway.

how well the phone works as a phone.

They talk about data speeds, picture quality, memory and processing power for running apps, etc.

At most, you may see one short paragraph about the sound quality of the phone on each end of the call. Even the drop call ratings seem to be getting buried in the review almost as an after thought.

Every time I read about someone at "company" being disciplined or fired was because it's company time and resources or whatever you want to call it. You're suppose to be doing company tasks or assignments, yada, yada and this can and will be monitored. No personal time unless explained otherwise. So, be careful and wise, don't do it. All this gets recorded to include phones, PCs of any type and general workplace physical viewing. -----Willy badge# 007

On or off site you can say it's still misuse of company time, but it is really another entire level when you "run up to the bank" without notifying anyone you're leaving and not during a normally "off the clock" lunch or whatever.

I almost got burned many yrs. ago because I grabbed some cleaning fluid. I just took the whole quart of it because I was always running out of the material. It was tricrol(sp) but it was the only thing that seemed to work. You're suppose to refill your container but since I was always going on such service calls, it got used-up too quickly. AND YES, i did re-order more for the stock room. That's why I seemed to be caught or so they thought. i did the paperwork prior, the whole 9-yards, etc.. -----Willy
