If not Mitt Romney, what successful business person

would be acceptable as a presidential candidate? What would that person need to show in order to get one's vote? or, are lawyers and career politicians always a better choice over those who have been mainly immersed in the business world?
Thus far, I've not found a compelling reason to think Mitt Romney or another person of his background should be snubbed at the polls. This doesn't mean I think he deserves to be elected but it does mean I see nothing to eliminate him from consideration. If it's his party, what Democrat of similar background would be acceptable. I'm rather fed up with career politicians trying to tell us they know what's best for people whose shoes they've never been in. I'm also not interested in anyone with an activist agenda as it creates more division than union, IMO.
