Those only protect, and only to some extent, those who choose to help. They don't require anyone to offer help...at least as I understand it.

This is a clear example of why you shouldn't hire relatives with little experience and no judgement to work in your company. (i.e. Nepotism) I'd love to see the other 9 interviewed to find out what kind of boss she was. She sounds like a heartless barracuda, which are so often employed to manage employees.

It is possible that they may have been worried about legal and insurance liability, (which is the result and responsibility of lawyers over the years who have sued successfully when rescue attempts have failed, or have saved people otherwise so brain damaged that they never wake up). That is a travesty of the intent of the legal system.

And given current Temperatures, since this is the first day in perhaps 2 weeks that Toronto has been only in the low 80's instead of humid and near 90, I understand your irritability.

Climate Canada or whatever they're called measure the temperatures at Toronto International Airport, actually sited in any part of Toronto but in Mississauga next door, in a weather station surrounded by grass and open spaces, subject to cooling breezes. Toronto proper is from 5 to 15 degrees warmer in summer because of the concrete and tarmac asphalt on the streets and the reflections from the mirrored buildings. Last week the asphalt was buckling on some roads.
