The ice caps on Mars was the clincher for me. But pinning the blame on anything in particular is the tough question.

There were articles mentioning that Mars was experiencing similar ice cap melting. That knowledge was being used to debunk the idea that man is the culprit on earth. Maybe the two rovers we put there are involved. So it's not us...it's the sun god angry who is angry with us for what we're doing to its area of influence.

Not much to do with business competition, fair pricing, or free enterprise when the government says exactly who will do what.

Hmmm, seems I heard complaints before about government telling business what to do here in the USA. Now we're suppose to emulate China?

Well the cost to business for health benefits and retirement are certainly easier. And like so many here in the US and some here in SE would love, the employer (as front man for the government) can fire and hire at will. Of course, the boss can be hired and fired at will too in China, since it depends so much on political good will at the top to be allow to run your business. That wouldn't go over too good with the "suits" here. Of course here the business just buys political backing with shell games of campaign donations and consultant fees.
