Someone died...that didn't really have to die...a trial is the only way to discover the truth.

And marijuana doesn't result in aggression. Usually it results in passivity and hunger, more hunger than would be satisfied by Skittles and a soft drink so the marijuana was either a day or two old or was acquired from second hand smoke.

Further examination of the Police tapes also detected Zimmerman uttering racial epithets specifically the short form for rac****. That goes to his state of mind and would indicate a prejudice if it comes to the jury.

.....for that to happen and even then, it can vary depending on what kind of weed it is (where it's from, etc.), and what I read said that he had a very small amount in his system, which may mean he hadn't even smoked it that day. Weed is detectable for up to 90 days, depending on the type of test done.

People high on pot are not typically aggressive at all; the effect is the opposite.

Most researchers agree that urine tests for marijuana can detect the presence of the drug in the body for up to 13 days.

His blood showed recent usage. Blood quits showing usage after a few hours. Urine can show it for days, maybe 2 weeks. Trayvon's blood had active THC in it. Longer indications are derived from "metabolites". The test done on Trayvon was for active THC.

Stippling refers to unburned powder that has penetrated skin. According to this article, that places the distance at 6" to 30" which would be within an arm's reach. Being that the powder would have needed to penetrate through his hoodie and any garment underneath it, that distance may have been on the shorter end of the range. As the link mentions, it would require testing the actual weapon be more precise but I'd think this means they were fairly close.

I can't find the word you said he used but maybe you can point out the time that it occurs so others can listen for it.

a man who I believe had used his own filtering and enhancement software to make any verbal expression more clear. I'm fairly certain that the alleged term was eventually dismissed as being some other word.

I've heard so call experts both ways regarding the application of "stand your ground" law in this case. One lawyer took the stance that since Zimmerman was following Trayvon rather than the other way around, the law doesn't cover the shooting. Of course another says it does.

I can't help but wonder if Trayvon became unnerved at someone he didn't know following him, perhaps even approaching him, and confront Zimmerman, perhaps even moving toward Zimmerman, there by Zimmerman decided he was threatened.

I honestly doubt unless there is very dramatic evidence not yet released that a jury trial will find Zimmerman guilty of even second degree murder. Given the circumstances, even a verdict of voluntary manslaughter seems of low probability. Of course, if the jury pool does know of the alleged and reported accusations of overzealousness in the past, then it may change things.


If Zimmerman is completely cut free, I fear in less than a year there will be another trial. Either a trail of someone assaulting or killing Zimmerman, or Zimmerman facing another trail for acting in what he sees as self defense.

However, if Zimmerman had only reported the kid to the police and then stayed back, not followed him, Trayvon would probably be alive, and Zimmerman wouldn't be facing trail. Does anyone, even Zimmerman, actually accuse
Trayvon of trying to break in anywhere in Zimmerman's sight? Not that I've heard, but I've not had very much time to follow the news in quite a while.

Regarding slow police response may have prompted him to make a bolder move than otherwise he'd have done maybe months earlier, aren't there several reports of past complaints of excessive, arrogant, or confrontational behavior by Zimmerman connected with is neighborhood watch roles?

His parents seemed to be doing the best they could to keep him out of trouble. I've read the mother wanted to keep him away from his "friends" and that's why she had his father take him out of town. I can feel for them as parents worried over a child getting into the wrong crowd, and already involved in some trouble, wanting to keep things from going to worse. I'm sure it hurts to think you send your son away to break his connections to the pot smoking friends, then see it go even worse by him being killed. Unfortunately, no matter how touching that is, it doesn't change what happened that night.
