That Mission Accomplished banner was already there because there had been some type of mission practice done by the ship ahead of time and the crew was being honored for the good job they did. Bush, unfortunately, decided to take those words and apply them to another situation and it came back to bite him......just as BO's words are being thrown in his face pretty frequently during this campaign.

That banner was not already there. It was put up specifically for Bush's speech and with White House approval.

bringing up a banner from 12 years ago to keep Bush on the hook, is it going to be okay for us Conservatives to remind you 12 years from now how BO and his cronies about ten days ago made a point of telling us on television and the media how the 'war on terror is over' even KNOWING that the CIA thwarted another underwear bomb and that there are more out there? I mean if you're gonna leak the info that the CI was a double agent, doncha think he could have also let the PUBLIC know about a bomb HE knew about in April and not go out of his way to look like a fool with the 'war on terror is over' statement? According to some news reports, some of the equipment the US has at ITS airports 'could' have detected that bomb or one like it, but NONE of the airports on FOREIGN soil have the same equipment, and that's where the bomb would have originated from in order to GET here. Jeeesshhh. I would sure hate to be on a plane coming TO the US right about now........especially considering how freaking many of those planes are coming from countries that hate the hell out of us. I feel MUCH safer now that I know the 'war on terror is over', while our 'leader' keeps sucking up to and negotiating with and releasing back into the wild those same 'non-terrorists'.

It wasn't militant loners who created the newer version of the underwear bomb they just discovered. It's the same guy who created the first one. And if 'he' is so worried about the homegrown militant loners, why was the Ft. Hood killer immediately labeled as a nutjob and not a homegrown terrorist who was in contact with the homegrown terrorist we killed in Yemen with the drone even though all the proof was there for years and ignored?

Considering it was a 'senior' State Department official who made that 'war on terror is over' statement, you have to take into consideration all of the gaffes that have been coming out of this administration on a regular basis and realize that not all of them are gaffes but perceptions that are coming down from the top. Especially when you also take into consideration the secret releases of high ranking Taliban that have been going on during the 'negotations' that this administration insists will be the road to peace in the Middle East. What a crock.......since the Taliban AND Al Qaeda have been terrorizing Iraq since the day we left.

Nobody has ever suggested that we haven't had homegrown terrorists.......look at the Bill Ayers and the Weather Underground from the 60's, a personal 'friend' of BO. The KKK has never been associated with the 'right'....and we, like any other country in the world, have had our fair share of crazies. I'm specifically talking about radical Islamic terrorists as you well know, but you would actually prefer to antagonize and distract that conversation with your own conversation instead.

As for your second link to cnn......I appreciate your openly connecting the Cleveland Bill-Ayers-type of terrorists with Occupiers. CNN, it appears to me, has gone along with the left WH of downplaying the new version of the underwear bomb as a 'no biggie'. I wonder if they would feel the same way if one of their own were on a plane that was coming home from overseas with one on board.

for Canadians who hang out on foreign forums. Canada must really be boring.

The American ambassador's daughter attends a school in Canada. Her teacher explains what it means to be Canadian to the class. The teacher then asks everyone who is Canadian to raise their hands. The American, being intrigued, asked a priest who was strolling by what the telephone was used for. The priest replied that it was a direct line to heaven and that for $10,000 you could talk to God. The American thanked the priest and went along his way.

Next stop was in Atlanta. There, at a very large cathedral, he saw the same golden telephone with the same sign under it. He wondered if this was the same kind of telephone he saw in Orlando and he asked a nearby nun what its purpose was. She told him that it was a direct line to heaven and that for $10,000 he could talk to God. "O.K., thank you," said the American. He then traveled to Indianapolis, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Boston, and New York. In every church he saw the same golden telephone with the same "$10,000 per call" sign under it.

The American, upon leaving Vermont saw a sign for Canada and decided to see if Canadians had the same phone. He arrived in OTTAWA, and again, there was the same golden telephone, but this time the sign under it read "10 cents per call." The American was surprised so he asked the priest about the sign. "Father, I've traveled all over America and I've seen this same golden telephone in many churches. I'm told that it is a direct line to Heaven, but in every state the price was $10,000 per call. Why is it so cheap here?"

The priest smiled and answered, "You're in Canada now son, it's a local call".

BTW I saw the joke you posted, but this time is was an American Teacher with a Canadian student, so there is a parallel universe out there somewhere.
