The Republicans who are the equivalent of our Conservative Party, and the Democrats who are the equivalent of ... our Conservative Party." Actually the Conservatives are about equivalent to the Democrats. The Republicans have no equivalent in the UK unless it's the Monster Raving Looney Party.

There are no Marxists any more, not least because their economics didn't work. Name me the last Marxist mass murder, recognizing that Russia is no longer a Marxist country and hasn't been since about 1994. The Post Revolutionary War of the 20's, the collectivization of the farms and the destruction of the kulaks in the 1930's, 1953 East Germany, 1956 Hungary, 1968 Czechoslovakia. It's all very old news. Yugoslavia was about national identity, Serbs versus everybody, or vice versa, and it was about religion Catholics versus Orthodox versus Muslims. Chechnya is effectively a religious war, certainly not one about Marxism. Anything you want to bring up, after Chairman Mao's Little Red Book, or Cambodia?

Even the Charles Taylor lunatics in Africa don't call themselves Marxists any more. They identify more with tribes than ideologies, or with religion, particularly Islam, than anything else. And it's really all about the diamond trade or piracy, neither of which are well known Marxist tactics or issues.
