What the girlfriend said was the events taking place (two versions) or What Zimmerman said about 'he's taking something out of his waistband'?

She said that he put his hoodie up because it was raining in the first part of her interview (was he already on the phone with her for her to know that?)....then she said Martin told her he was 'being followed' (hoodie still down but he's on the phone at that point) and he put the hoodie up and started walking quickly. Then she heard words between the two guys, then the headset fell off (she knows this, how?), and she hung up and tried to call him back with no response (which she wouldn't have gotten if the phone line was still open.....in which case, she probably would have heard the scuffle going on and she doesn't indicate that's the case so somehow the phone disconnected when the headset fell off).

BUT.....according to Zimmerman's 911 call, he gave a description of Martin saying that he was acting suspiciously, wearing a hoodie (already up at that point), that he appears to be black (when asked by the dispatcher and not volunteered), and that "he's pulling something out of his waistband". Then Zimmerman tells 911 that HE lost Martin and was going to follow him (you can hear him panting as he's running), was told he didn't need to do that. Zimmerman says OK, and instead heads to the front of the building where he last saw Martin so he (Zimmerman) can get the address of the row of apartments where Martin had gone behind. Now Zimmerman heads back down the sidewalk to his car, the sidewalk "T" has Martin all of a sudden in the same spot as Zimmerman, and the two confront each other. And THAT'S the end of the conversation with Martin's girlfriend.

According to Zimmerman, Martin wasn't on the phone when he first spotted Martin because Martin was 'pulling something out of his waistband' and then Martin took off quickly (both Zimmerman and the girlfriend agree at that point) and disappeared. So exactly WHEN did Martin call the girlfriend??? When he was behind the apartment building, and walked out and met up with Zimmerman at the sidewalk "T"???

If Zimmerman is correct, and Martin 'pulled something out of his waistband' and Zimmerman never saw what it was (because Martin walked away quickly and disappeared), then Zimmerman had no way of knowing if what Martin pulled out of his waistband was a weapon......and still wouldn't have known during the meeting at the sidewalk "T" that the cellphone was what he actually had in his waistband. Just because Martin had the phone up to his ear (or near it) at that point is not proof to Zimmerman that there wasn't a weapon still in the waistband that Martin put back because he (Martin) believed he had lost Zimmerman and didn't need it.

I'm not on the jury....I'm not the DA who will make the decision to take this case to court...I'm not a judge who might make the decision to throw the case out if it does go to court....I'm not doing anything but trashing an interview that is obviously flawed in favor of Martin due to bias both by the interviewer and by the girlfriend who was so broken up she couldn't attend the funeral, but not so broken up that she couldn't do an interview. Really?????

is whether it was "attack" or "defense" but since the charges are based on "attack" I decided to go with that one.

I really would like to hear more about the movements and actions of the "victim". Why was he there? Visiting someone? Out on a long walk? On a main road or an inner residential road? Does any of his earlier problems with the law come from things he's done in that area, or of some other nature?

Is it unusual to ask someone "Are you lost?" if you think they may not belong in the area? At least that implies you are willing to help direct them elsewhere, peacefully.

Do we need laws that can help neighborhoods which want to restrict movement in them to residents and approved visitors, even without benefit of being a "gated community"? Why go where you are not wanted or have no need to be? I don't. I almost never go anywhere unless there's some lawful reason I set out to be there.

[What does marching in neighborhoods ever accomplish anyway? Anything other than "in your face" move to rile up anger passions even more? Try to instill a sense of threat? Oddly enough, the one Al Sharpton got right is the one he was stabbed for.

Just so I understand...you're basing what Martins girlfriend said on what the "biased media" is telling you. Unless you were there, and/or heard the recording of the interview.
