Age/experience trumps youth/enthusiasm....again...

I'm the oldest tech in our shop, not as fast as I used to be but I do have my moments ![]()
We have an automatic car wash in the shop that does an admirable job power-washing a car's wheels and a very good job on the car itself. It's a cardinal rule that every car gets washed after servicing for customer satisfaction.
I've been doing it bass ackwards however for the longest time,I wash cars before I service them.Today a much younger tech "busted" me on it and he got a lesson in common sense.
Hey Holmes, why do you DO that?
"Do what,Hoss"?
We're supposed to wash cars after, not before servicing.
"Uh huh Hoss, and why do I see you using a dust mask when you use your Impact gun to take the wheels off a car when you service it?"
Because I don't want to breathe the brake dust the damn air gun blows all over, that's why.
"Duh,my wheels don't have brake dust on them.FYI even with a mask, that crap gets in your hair, skin and clothes and you breathe it later anyway...think about it."
He now washes his cars before servicing ![]()
