Police Steal Poor Waitress Tip

"Please give me my tip back"


Stacy Knutson, a struggling Minnesota waitress and mother of five, says
she was searching for a "miracle" to help her family with financial
problems.


But that "miracle" quickly came and went after police seized a $12,000
tip that was left at her table. Knutson filed a lawsuit in Clay County
District Court stating that the money is rightfully hers. Police argue
it is drug money.


Knutson was working at the Fryn' Pan in Moorhead, Minn., when, according
to her attorney, Craig Richie, a woman left a to-go box from another
restaurant on the table. Knutson followed the woman to her car to return
the box to her.


"No I am good, you keep it," the woman said, according to the lawsuit.

I don't know how many times the cops have grabbed money and claimed it was drug money. Ever since that law was passed. I used to have a friend that carried a lot of cash because of his business. He hired a lot of day laborers and paid at the end of the day.

One day the cops stopped him and confuscated his cash and declared it drug money. It took him forever to get it back. The judge had a fit about the confuscation and told the cops to walk very softly from now on.

.....that the "drug money" would have ended up as a boat in one of those cops' garages.

Now that it's hit the press, I bet this gets cleared up quickly.

I've heard that trained dogs can find drugs through amazing disguised smells. Too bad the waitress didn't think anything was suspicious and get a license tag # or at least good description of the car. I'd still think a 1K reward is nothing to sneeze at.
