Diana, remember should a Catholic be President back when JFK was running? With the current situation, I suspect that a similar thing might eventually happen with another religion. I'm watching to see if that shoe drops. If it gets close, I think there is a good chance that it will be dropped.

He asked questions about the work, my skills and knowledge, etc. Then, in a moment when nobody else was around, he asked me if I would be interested in coming up to see a little camp he and some of his friends had built up in the woods "in preparation for the coming troubles". Turns out he was a doomsday survivalist and was interested in adding skilled members to the group.

Another thought that came into my mind was the government approach and emergency rules against "hoarding", they might even find themselves under pressure by local govts to "share" in exchange for govt inventory of what was "shared" in promise to replace in "better days" or with alternate means of value.

Water, land, seeds, and gun for protection and hunting. Seems that should be enough. What's the most likely invasion scenario in rural areas for those wanting food? Most would sneak into fields at night, especially the many corn fields and gather what they needed that way. I don't see the cities emptying out to the countryside as some fear, but some roving bands might make forays into the countryside and then bring anything found back to city. In a time where every area is creating it's own justice, inner city residents would be foolish and probably fearful to head out into the countryside. Most likely there would be mass demonstrations in the cities and scrambling for whatever handouts and resources were made available. Look at what happened in New Orleans, the majority of city residents stayed or quickly returned and had to be forcibly removed into other areas at times to bring the problems there to an end.
