I read a story one time about aliens invading and the ones that survived and fought back were the survivalist. Maybe that is their adjenda.

I never did understand the groups that say that they want to succeed from the US and don't owe the government anything. I say let them. They can no longer use the roads or mail delivery or electricity or gas or food or anything that this country produces and are not allowed out without a passport and visa even to get medical help.

Just wondering, how many people supporting secession have you actually run into personally? I've never run into one in real life. I have seen such things on the web, but how much stock can you put in some of those web yammers by someone under a web name?

They just don't let everyone they meet know their thoughts. In their minds they are always thinking of themselves as "sleepers" and as such, most don't go advertising.

Diana, it's been going on for a while. The government even got into it with the build a fallout shelter campaign in the 50's and 60's.
With a financial crash, Remember Howard Ruff in the 70's? His how to prosper during bad times book even hit #1 on the NYT best sellers list AIR. I think that the current cable TV shows might give the impression that there are more of the people going to extreme lengths than actually exist.
I have been watching those "prepper" type shows that have come out recently, as has been my cousin. We have fun discussing some of silly things we have seen. Some things are downright stupid. They are fun to watch sometimes. Heavens, one of the latest ones deals with a "Flower Child" type preparing a bunker with preparation for that point of view. Those shows show all types of people.

Seems like there are have been doomsday prophecies forever. I mean the writers of the New Testament were expecting Jesus to come back any day.

If they thought He was coming back in their lifetimes, would it matter if the writings were assembled? I thought they weren't really assembled until Constantine anyway.

I would like to see a CD ROM last a couple of thousand years and still be readable with the current technology.

That's what I was thinking. It's foolish to think you can outshoot an entire party of marauders until your ammunition runs out at 10K rounds. Long before you reach that amount of ammo used, just based on statistics one of those incoming shots will take you out. How do you shoot while locked in a bunker? No concrete and sandbagged pillbox on top to defend the bunker underneath? Eventually it will be overrun and you've just supplied them with 10K rounds of ammo and enough guns to arm their small army for taking out the neighbor down the road holed up in his bunker. A good front loader to dump a few tons of dirt over their air intakes and then it's just a waiting game till they come out, if smoke or clorox mixed with acid pumped down the pipes didn't drive them out first. The alternative is if they do suicide inside instead.

It's also interesting to watch how sometimes when a person says they don't like something Obama has done, it is implied that they believe in something like a "doomsday cult" or such or some statement or chain of logic that is in their minds. This seems to suddenly come up even in discussions about something as unrelated to the upcoming election as a discussion of a new type of cable TV show.

Opposition is just fine. Warning people that Obama's presidency will cause the end of civilization as we know it is what I'm talking about.

....has been saying that if Obama is reelected, he'll launch his assault on America the day after his second term starts. He talks about the president as if he's a one-man sleeper cell.
