the newly ranked Derek McKay 1st Class Petty Officer.

With all the cutbacks taking place only 17% of all of the ones taking the test made it....and Derek was one of them. He'll find out his placement within that 17% on Tuesday because the online site where he could check is being upgraded with those names. He and Heather are at her dad's in West Virginia helping get his garden in and has no internet access til they get back home, but he got a number of phone calls from military friends congratulating him, including his Chief and a couple of people he was stationed with back in Pensacola, FL.

The kid amazes me.......

as an aside... my brother-in-law just finished airborne school about a month ago, and is headed back to ranger school for his second attempt. His first attempt was interrupted by an attack of appendicitis. Good luck sergeant!
