Difference between OpenOffice & LibreOffice

I have been using OpenOffice for a few years now. Now I see there is a program called LibreOffice they both appeared to be the same program but with a different name. I was wondering if somebody could explain to me what the difference is.

As I understand it, LibreOffice is newer & supported

From what I've been able to gather, OpenOffice isn't supported any more and may or may not be around in the future. They do both do the same thing - i.e. provide a free mostly compatible equivalent to MS Office.

From reports handles MSFT Office files better.

Since both are free, why any concern?
